According to Click2Houston.com, as of today, Wednesday, Mar 25, 2020, the number of Houston-area coronavirus cases is 291, with 2 deaths and 21 recoveries so far. The Houston area went on total lockdown at 11:59 pm last night.
I read quite a lengthy email from a girl in Spain who reported that one week made the difference in her country. Last week her country disregarded the warnings and continued business as usual. Today, Spain is on complete shutdown with police patrolling the streets and sending everyone home. The number of deaths in Spain has now exceeded China’s deaths.
The primary goal of my blog is to share the Word of God through encouraging posts. In a world full of negativity, we can always use encouragement, especially from the God of the Universe. Little did I know that when I decided to start a blog that my first post would be about a pandemic! Maybe that’s why it’s taken me a while to get started. Perhaps it was meant to be since there is so much fear and anxiety in the world at this time. Nevertheless, I feel the need to give hope to everyone that will listen in this time of what could be desperation, fear, and hopelessness.
Now for the good news! I want to show you the truth from God’s Word of how you can protect yourself and your family from the CoronaVirus and anything else or anyone that would try to harm you.
First, let’s look at what God has in mind for you, your life, and your family’s life. In Jeremiah 29:11 King James Version (KJV), God tells us, 11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. In the Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC), the last part of the verse is translated as, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome. And the Contemporary English Version (CEV) reads 11 I will bless you with a future filled with hope—a future of success, not of suffering.
That doesn’t sound to me like a God that is judging the world and killing His people! The phrase Fear not, is in the Bible more than 365 times, one for every day. I can go on with scriptures, one after another but I will try and keep the length of this blog down.
If God isn’t judging us then who is the author of this virus. John 10:10 King James Version (KJV) says 10 The thief (or Satan) cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy…
The Bible also says in Mark 11:23 King James Version (KJV), 23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever (that’s you) shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his (your) heart, but shall believe that those things which he (you) saith shall come to pass; he (you) shall have whatsoever he (you) saith.
So if we believe the Word of God, and it shows us that God loves us and wants us to prosper and to have a “future of success, not of suffering.” Then we must also believe that Satan is the thief that comes to kill and steal our lives from us and cause suffering.
So what will stop Satan and this deadly virus he has unleashed on the world? Prayer will!! But not just any prayer, but by praying the Word of God. The Bible says, in Isaiah 43:26 (KJV), 26 Put me in remembrance of My Word. It’s not because God forgot what He Said. In the Bible, even Abraham, Jacob, and Moses put God in remembrance of His promises to them. When we are in need, it’s good to put God in remembrance of His promises to us. It also encourages our faith to confess His promises, time and time again, and bring them before His throne of grace.
I am going to give you scriptures that you can pray aloud that will shut Satan down! You can replace the pronouns with your name or ‘me’ or the appropriate word to personalize it for you and your family. Say it often so that you cover yourself and your loved ones with prayer. I would recommend at least daily. These prayers were given to me by my pastor and his wife Larry and Helen Elder. I walk around my subdivision quoting these for all the homes, people and businesses.

Psalm 91 King James (KJV) – 1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust. 3 Surely He shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. 4 He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield and buckler. 5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; 6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. 7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. 8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. 9 Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; 10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. 11 For he shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. 12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. 13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. 14 Because He hath set His love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my Name. 15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. 16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him My salvation.
Proverbs 4:20-22 (KJV) – 20 My son, attend to My words; incline thine ear unto My sayings. 21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. 22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
1 Peter 2:24 (KJV) – 24 Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
Matthew 8:16-17 (KJV) – 16 When the even was come, they brought unto Him many that were possessed with devils: and He cast out the spirits with His Word, and healed all that were sick: 17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.
Mark 11:22-24 (KJV) – 22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. 23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. 24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
Matthew 18:18-20 (KJV) – 18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. 19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of My Father which is in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in My Name, there am I in the midst of them.
Please let me know your results! I would love to pass on the great testimonies on my blog about what God is doing for you!
And remember…10…DO NOT FEAR, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10 New International (NIV)
